Chitwan: When people think of Nepal , They think of soaring snow-clad mountains . Despite this, nearly half the country's population lives on a narrow strip of flat and fertile land that lies wedged between the India border and the mountains. This is known as the Terai. One of the well known tourist sites of Terai region is Chitwan meaning "heart of the Jungle". This area is one of the last surviving examples of the continuous band of forests and grasslands which once extended from the Indus river in Pakistan to the Burmese border.

The main attraction of Chitwan is Chitwan National Park , Nepal 's first and most famous national park. Home to teeming wildlife such as the rare great one-horned rhinoceros and the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Besides Rhino and tiger, Chitwan also supports a great variety of flora and fauna. Several species of Deer, Sloth Bear, Leopard, Wild boar the white stocking, Gaur (The world's largest wild cattle) and many other smaller animals have made the Chitwan jungle their home. The swamps and riverside provides home to marsh crocodiles the rare and endangered fish only eating Gharihal or Gangetic crocodile.

Thel Chitwan National Park is listed in the UNESCO world Heritage site in 1984. The park consists of more than 43 species of mammals including the elusive tiger, 450 species of birds and 45 species of amphibians. One can pick up for accommodation as per his budget and interest, as there is a big choice of such facilities. In the National Park generally arranged activities are-elephant ride, bird watching, nature walk, canoe ride, slide shows and cultural dances etc.

Sauraha

Sauraha is the famous Tourist area in Chitwan district. It is just outside the park on the northern bank of the Rapti River . It lies 6 km south fo Tandi Bazaar ( on the mahendra hwy). The setting is magnificent, even if much of the development is inappropriate and careless, it's a simple village that's been overrun by a boom and bust tourist industry. Outside of the tourist enclave, however, there's still ample opportunity to observe rural life- fields of verdant rice and golden mustard surround neat mud-walled houses and barns. Ox carts rumble by and there's a constant background scene of ducks, chickens and children.

A new bridge gives vehicle access form Tandi Bazaar, and it seems likely that buses will now drop you in Sauraha itself: the in ruction of buses into the village certainly won't help its character.

Elephant Rides , The grates thrill at Chitwan is the traditional elephant safari in search of wildlife: seeing a rhino from atop an elephant is an experience not to be missed . you won't want to spend your entire visit aboard and elephant, however. It is not a comfortable mode f travel and your first ride is likely to leave you with aches in muscles you did not now you had , not to mention and interesting selection of fruises Two, three or sometimes four passengers are squeezed into a wooden -railed howdah

Jungle Walks:- Visitors are allowed to enter the park on foot, but in order to get the most out of the experience, and for reasons of safety, it is mandatory that you go with a guide. Walks, which are often nothing more than a pleasant stroll through the jungle, can be exhilarating, but they are potentially dangerous if you meet a rhino. Most lodges have their own naturalist, but ther are also a number of independent guides. These young locals many not have much formal training , but they're often very knowledgeable about the park's wildlife and where to find it .

Walking is the ideal way to see the park's prolific butterflies and birds, and to also see the flora close up.

4wd Safaris, Tarai Culture , wildlife Breeding projects, Bird watching , Cycling is the main attraction and Tourist can make big experience in this area . Cycling to Bish Hajar Tal (Twenty thousand lake) is more excited.

Nawalparasi: Tha main east-west link across the entire Terai is the Mahendra Hwy , and access to Kathmandu is via the Tribhuvan Hwy (Raj-path ) through Daman or along the busy and poular Prithvi hwy to Mugling and then south to Narayanghat. These highways merge at Hetauda and continue south to Pathlaiya, where the Mahendrea swings east all the way to the border at kakarbhitta: the Tribhuvan continues south to the border town of Birganj .

Nawalparsi is a small town on the banks of the Narayani River , just down stream from its junction with the Kaligandaki and Trisuli River . It has developed mainly because it lies at the intersection (Pul Chowk) of the Mahendra Hwy , which runs the length of the Terai, and the main road in to the hills to Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Nawalparsi is lies just a mountain, where is very pleasant climate. Main attraction of the Nawalparasi is Kalika Tample at the top of the hills and the view of the Kaligandaki and the Trisuli River ( Narayani River )

Palpa: Palpa is just off the Siddhartha High way , between Phokara and Sunauli/Bhairawa. Historically, it has enjoyed a strategic position on the trade and pilgrim route between the hills and the plains.

Tansen is still the administrative centre for a large region, but it sees few visitors, and is increasingly sidelined by the development on the Terai and at Phokhara.

The town sprawls over a steep ridge, and quite a few of the maim streets are too steep for cars, whcich helps to keep some of the less pleasant aspects of the 21 st century at bay. In the older sections of the town, attractive Newari buildings line cobbled streets.

Most of the surrounding countryside is dominated by Magars, but there are also Bahuns and Chhetris, Newars form the majority in Palpa itself. They migrated from the kathmandu valley to take advantage of trade opportunities with India that opened up in the 19 th century- traditional crafts and agricultural surpluses were traded for the products of the British industrial revolution, especially cotton fabrics. Palpa is still famous for Metalware and Dhaka , the hand-woven material that is made into Topi (Nepali hats)

There are great views over the bowl, shaped Madi Valley from the town, and a spectacular view of the Himalaya from the nearby hill, Srinagar Danda . the are some interesting walks in the surrounding countryside, including a day teak to the banks of the Kali Gandaki River And the vast, deserted Ranighat Durbar ( Ranighat palace) Palpa is a pleasant place to break the rough journey from Pokhara to the border at Sunauli/ Bhairawa.

Main attraction of the Palpa.
